Functional Bodywork
Your body has a proper functioning that allows the optimal Health to flow. Bones have to be healthy and in proper position, tissues have to organized to not impede fluid flow, and organs want to be free. The bodies structure is completely interlinked, and one problem affects the neighbors. Functional bodywork is the application of skilled manipulation that targets the source of dysfunction and the neighbors that have all been affected. This is the foundation of my work, making sure your structural foundation is sound and effectively functioning in Health.

Emotional Integration
Surprisingly enough, many conditions have an emotional quality causing or paralleling our problems. Emotional integration is a simple technique that educates us how to embrace and feel our emotions. We normally push our emotions, projecting them outside or even on ourselves. Integrating the emotion to be felt responsibly is the way we free ourselves and open new potentials for Health.

Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy is intended to work with the fluid in the spine, and the deeper being of an individual. We can elicit our best selves with this therapy. When our body has experienced mass amounts of Trauma, it tends to stay stuck in a loop. We have to break that loop and free up the potentials for Health so healing has a chance to be effective. In addition, the cranial bones themselves can be displaced from physical traumas and can cause a multitude of disorders in the body. This therapy allows me to effectively identify this disturbances and put the bones back in place.

In every session, my goal is to always work for the CAUSE of your symptoms. Over the years I have learned wherever your symptoms surface is often not the root of the cause.
We can work in 3 ways during our sessions to help you:
- working with your body to obtain functional health in the tissue, organs, and bones;
- working with your emotions to relieve pressure and resolve emotional manifestation in the body;
- working in the cranial-sacral fluid which has the potential to open up resources for HEALTH and stop trauma loops.
Matthew Manriquez
Bodyworker MT-12588
Hi there! I am Matthew and I have spent my entire career as a bodyworker learning how to work deeply with inherent HEALTH. A bodyworker has the intention to help their clients discover the source of an ailment, and their work takes you deep within yourself to restore the function of Health. Illness appears in so many ways and it's a multidimensional journey to discover the source. When you step into my office, I am listening to your entire being to discover what will be the best treatment for you to move forward.

Illness from a wholistic perspective.
What does it mean to work wholistically? It's the recognition that our body is connected to everything else in our life. This is a big deal especially when we are talking about the body. We tend to look at the body as a reductionist machine, and although it is a machine and proper functioning is essential, we lose sight of how the body is connected to everything else. Ida Rolf liked to say, "there is no such thing as cause and effect, only relationship." Wholeness is the grand scheme that a shoulder problem is not just a joint, but it's related to our emotions and lifestyle.
Let's use some examples to illustrate a point. A client has a shoulder problem, he couldn't lift his arms any high than his ear. Now, I normally look for cause when I work, so I am asking myself the normal questions, where is the cause? After a session, his arm was feeling better, more mobile, but the cause had not yet appeared. I asked him what had been going on in his life and he said he had been very stressed at work. Huh...what kind of work did he do? he was a door installer! His stress had been going on for months, slowly increasing until at some point it manifested physically until his shoulder stopped working. His body had decided it had enough and couldn't manage the stress anymore so it manifested an illness to purge.
Our body is a vessel for many experiences to be handled and processed. To add on this, our bodies retain injuries but adapts so we can continue to live our lives. The injury is not resolved, but the body has morphed to make sure the rest of the processes essential to life can continue. It's like putting duck tape over your window so you can still drive to work. The more injuries, the more difficult the body finds it to continue to prosper, because adaptability has a decreasing threshold.
It's a point that is hard to illustrate but real for a bodyworker. We have to work on on your injuries, because they reduce your capacity for Health over time, and future manifestations normally reproduce at the weakest link in the chain. Our lives are completely tied into our bodies. Rarely does something that happens in the body have nothing to do with your everyday life. It's the butterfly effect, and your living smack dab in the middle.
On the note of Trauma: trauma can completely dis regulate your body, and that is priority number one. Trauma captures your body in a loop, and the resources of your body cannot be spent other places until we free the loop. This is why I use craniosacral therapy for trauma. It has the potential to begin getting you out of the trauma loop, and reaching deep states of relaxation.
